## Al-Maa'un

**Translation:** Almsgiving
**Revelation:** Meccan
**Number of Verses:** 7

### Pre-Bismillah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

*In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.*

### Verses

#### Verse 1

أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يُكَذِّبُ بِالدِّينِ

**Transliteration:** Ara-aital lazee yu kazzibu bid deen

**Translation:** Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?

#### Verse 2

فَذَٰلِكَ الَّذِي يَدُعُّ الْيَتِيمَ

**Transliteration:** Fa zaalikal lazi yadu'ul-yateem

**Translation:** For that is the one who drives away the orphan

#### Verse 3

وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ

**Transliteration:** Wa la ya huddu 'alaa ta'amil miskeen

**Translation:** And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.

#### Verse 4

فَوَيْلٌ لِّلْمُصَلِّينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa wai lul-lil mu salleen

**Translation:** So woe to those who pray

#### Verse 5

الَّذِينَ هُمْ عَن صَلَاتِهِمْ سَاهُونَ

**Transliteration:** Al lazeena hum 'an salaatihim sahoon

**Translation:** [But] who are heedless of their prayer -

#### Verse 6

الَّذِينَ هُمْ يُرَاءُونَ

**Transliteration:** Al lazeena hum yuraa-oon

**Translation:** Those who make show [of their deeds]

#### Verse 7

وَيَمْنَعُونَ الْمَاعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa yamna'oonal ma'oon

**Translation:** And withhold [simple] assistance.
