### Pre-Bismillah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

*In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.*

### Verses

#### Verse 1

طسم

**Transliteration:** Taa-Seeen-Meeem

**Translation:** Ta, Seen, Meem.

#### Verse 2

تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ

**Transliteration:** Tilka Aayaatul Kitaabil Mubeen

**Translation:** These are the verses of the clear Book.

#### Verse 3

لَعَلَّكَ بَاخِعٌ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** La'allaka baakhi'un nafsaka allaa yakoonoo mu'mineen

**Translation:** Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.

#### Verse 4

إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ آيَةً فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَاقُهُمْ لَهَا خَاضِعِينَ

**Transliteration:** In nashaa nunazzil 'alaihim minas samaaa'i Aayatan fazallat a'naaquhum lahaa khaadi'een

**Translation:** If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.

#### Verse 5

وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍ مِّنَ الرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maa yaateehim min zikrim minar Rahmaani muhdasin illaa kaanoo 'anhu mu'rideen

**Translation:** And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.

#### Verse 6

فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنبَاءُ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ

**Transliteration:** Faqad kazzaboo fasa yaateehim ambaaa'u maa kaanoo bihee yastahzi'oon

**Translation:** For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.

#### Verse 7

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا إِلَى الْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍ كَرِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Awa lam yaraw ilal ardi kam ambatnaa feehaa min kulli zawjin kareem

**Translation:** Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?

#### Verse 8

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Inn fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

#### Verse 9

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

**Translation:** And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

#### Verse 10

وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ ائْتِ الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa iz naadaa Rabbuka Moosaaa ani'-til qawmaz zaalimeen

**Translation:** And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -

#### Verse 11

قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qawma Fir'awn; alaa yattaqoon

**Translation:** The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?"

#### Verse 12

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ

**Transliteration:** Qaala Rabbi inneee akhaafu ai yukazziboon

**Translation:** He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me

#### Verse 13

وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِي وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِي فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَارُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa yadeequ sadree wa laa yantaliqu lisaanee fa arsil ilaa Haaroon

**Translation:** And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.

#### Verse 14

وَلَهُمْ عَلَيَّ ذَنبٌ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ

**Transliteration:** Wa lahum 'alaiya zambun fa akhaafu ai yaqtuloon

**Translation:** And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."

#### Verse 15

قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَاذْهَبَا بِآيَاتِنَا ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala kallaa fazhabaa bi Aayaatinaaa innaa ma'akum mustami'oon

**Translation:** [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.

#### Verse 16

فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَا إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Faatiyaa Fir'awna faqoolaaa innaa Rasoolu Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,

#### Verse 17

أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

**Transliteration:** An arsil ma'anaa Baneee Israaa'eel

**Translation:** [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"

#### Verse 18

قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala alam nurabbika feenaa waleedanw wa labista feenaa min 'umurika sineen

**Translation:** [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?

#### Verse 19

وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ الَّتِي فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa fa'alta fa'latakal latee fa'alta wa anta minal kaafireen

**Translation:** And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."

#### Verse 20

قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَا إِذًا وَأَنَا مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala fa'altuhaaa izanw wa ana minad daaaleen

**Translation:** [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.

#### Verse 21

فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِي رَبِّي حُكْمًا وَجَعَلَنِي مِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fafarartu minkum lam maa khiftukum fawahaba lee Rabbee hukmanw wa ja'alanee minal mursaleen

**Translation:** So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.

#### Verse 22

وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَيَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

**Transliteration:** Wa tilka ni'matun tamun nuhaa 'alaiya an 'abbatta Baneee Israaa'eel

**Translation:** And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"

#### Verse 23

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala Fir'awnu wa maa Rabbul 'aalameen

**Translation:** Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"

#### Verse 24

قَالَ رَبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa in kuntum mooqineen

**Translation:** [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."

#### Verse 25

قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala liman hawlahooo alaa tastami'oon

**Translation:** [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"

#### Verse 26

قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala Rabbukum wa Rabbu aabaaa'ikumul awwaleen

**Translation:** [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."

#### Verse 27

قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌ

**Transliteration:** Qaala inna Rasoolakumul lazee ursila ilaikum lamajnoon

**Translation:** [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."

#### Verse 28

قَالَ رَبُّ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala Rabbul mashriqi wal maghribi wa maa baina humaa in kuntum ta'qiloon

**Translation:** [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."

#### Verse 29

قَالَ لَئِنِ اتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِي لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ الْمَسْجُونِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala la'init takhazta ilaahan ghairee la aj'alannaka minal masjooneen

**Translation:** [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."

#### Verse 30

قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَيْءٍ مُّبِينٍ

**Transliteration:** Qaala awalw ji'tuka bishai'im mubeen

**Translation:** [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?"

#### Verse 31

قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala faati biheee in kunta minas saadiqeen

**Translation:** [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."

#### Verse 32

فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٌ مُّبِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Fa alqaa 'asaahu fa izaaa hiya su'baanum mubeen

**Translation:** So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.

#### Verse 33

وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَاءُ لِلنَّاظِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa naza'a yadahoo faizaa hiya baidaaa'u linnaa zireen

**Translation:** And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.

#### Verse 34

قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ

**Transliteration:** Qaala lilmala-i hawlahooo inna haazaa lasaahirun 'aleem

**Translation:** [Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.

#### Verse 35

يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Yureedu ai yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihee famaazaa taamuroon

**Translation:** He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"

#### Verse 36

قَالُوا أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَابْعَثْ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaalooo arjih wa akhaahu wab'as filmadaaa'ini haashireen

**Translation:** They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers

#### Verse 37

يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Yaatooka bikulli sah haarin 'aleem

**Translation:** Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."

#### Verse 38

فَجُمِعَ السَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

**Transliteration:** Fa jumi'as saharatu limeeqaati Yawmim ma'loom

**Translation:** So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.

#### Verse 39

وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa qeela linnaasi hal antum mujtami'oon

**Translation:** And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate

#### Verse 40

لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ السَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ

**Transliteration:** La'allanaa nattabi'us saharata in kaanoo humul ghaalibeen

**Translation:** That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"

#### Verse 41

فَلَمَّا جَاءَ السَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ الْغَالِبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Falammaa jaaa'as saharatu qaaloo li Fir'awna a'inna lanaa la ajjran in kunnaa nahnul ghaalibeen

**Translation:** And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"

#### Verse 42

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًا لَّمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala na'am wa innakum izal laminal muqarrabeen

**Translation:** He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."

#### Verse 43

قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰ أَلْقُوا مَا أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala lahum Moosaaa alqoo maaa antum mulqoon

**Translation:** Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."

#### Verse 44

فَأَلْقَوْا حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْغَالِبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa alqaw hibaalahum wa 'isiyyahum wa qaaloo bi'izzati Fir'awna innaa lanahnul ghaaliboon

**Translation:** So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."

#### Verse 45

فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa alqaa Moosaa 'asaahu fa izaa hiya talqafu maa yaafikoon

**Translation:** Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.

#### Verse 46

فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سَاجِدِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa ulqiyas saharatu saajideen

**Translation:** So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah].

#### Verse 47

قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaalooo aamannaa bi Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,

#### Verse 48

رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ

**Transliteration:** Rabbi Moosaa wa Haaroon

**Translation:** The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

#### Verse 49

قَالَ آمَنتُمْ لَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ آذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ الَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ السِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَافٍ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala aamantum lahoo qabla an aazana lakum innahoo lakabeerukumul lazee 'alla makumus sihra falasawfa ta'lamoon; la uqatti'anna aidiyakum wa arjulakum min khilaafinw wa la usallibanna kum ajma'een

**Translation:** [Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."

#### Verse 50

قَالُوا لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّا إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaaloo la daira innaaa ilaa Rabbinaa munqalliboon

**Translation:** They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.

#### Verse 51

إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَايَانَا أَن كُنَّا أَوَّلَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innaa natma'u ai yaghfira lanaa Rabbunna khataa yaanaaa an kunnaaa awwalal mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."

#### Verse 52

۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa an asri bi'ibaadeee innakum muttaba'oon

**Translation:** And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."

#### Verse 53

فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِي الْمَدَائِنِ حَاشِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa arsala Fir'awnu filmadaaa'ini haashireen

**Translation:** Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers

#### Verse 54

إِنَّ هَٰؤُلَاءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌ قَلِيلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Inna haaa'ulaaa'i lashir zimatun qaleeloon

**Translation:** [And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,

#### Verse 55

وَإِنَّهُمْ لَنَا لَغَائِظُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa innahum lanaa laghaaa'izoon

**Translation:** And indeed, they are enraging us,

#### Verse 56

وَإِنَّا لَجَمِيعٌ حَاذِرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa innaa lajamee'un haaziroon

**Translation:** And indeed, we are a cautious society... "

#### Verse 57

فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم مِّن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

**Transliteration:** Fa akhrajnaahum min Jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

**Translation:** So We removed them from gardens and springs

#### Verse 58

وَكُنُوزٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa kunoozinw wa ma qaamin kareem

**Translation:** And treasures and honorable station -

#### Verse 59

كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

**Transliteration:** Kazaalika wa awrasnaahaa Baneee Israaa'eel

**Translation:** Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.

#### Verse 60

فَأَتْبَعُوهُم مُّشْرِقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa atba'oohum mushriqeen

**Translation:** So they pursued them at sunrise.

#### Verse 61

فَلَمَّا تَرَاءَى الْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَابُ مُوسَىٰ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ

**Transliteration:** Falammaa taraaa'al jam'aani qaala as haabu Moosaaa innaa lamudrakoon

**Translation:** And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

#### Verse 62

قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ إِنَّ مَعِيَ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ

**Transliteration:** Qaala kallaaa inna ma'iya Rabbee sa yahdeen

**Translation:** [Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."

#### Verse 63

فَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ أَنِ اضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ الْبَحْرَ ۖ فَانفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍ كَالطَّوْدِ الْعَظِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Fa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa anidrib bi'asaakal bahra fanfalaqa fakaana kullu firqin kattawdil 'azeem

**Translation:** Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

#### Verse 64

وَأَزْلَفْنَا ثَمَّ الْآخَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa azlafnaa sammal aakhareen

**Translation:** And We advanced thereto the pursuers.

#### Verse 65

وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa anjainaa Moosaa wa mam ma'ahooo ajma'een

**Translation:** And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.

#### Verse 66

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Summa aghraqnal aakhareen

**Translation:** Then We drowned the others.

#### Verse 67

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Inna fee zaalika la Aayaah; wa maa kaana aksaru hu mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

#### Verse 68

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

**Translation:** And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

#### Verse 69

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

**Transliteration:** Watlu 'alaihim naba-a Ibraaheem

**Translation:** And recite to them the news of Abraham,

#### Verse 70

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maa ta'budoon

**Translation:** When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

#### Verse 71

قَالُوا نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَاكِفِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaaloo na'budu asnaaman fanazallu lahaa 'aakifeen

**Translation:** They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."

#### Verse 72

قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala hal yasma'oona kum iz tad'oon

**Translation:** He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?

#### Verse 73

أَوْ يَنفَعُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَضُرُّونَ

**Transliteration:** Aw yanfa'oonakum aw yadurroon

**Translation:** Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"

#### Verse 74

قَالُوا بَلْ وَجَدْنَا آبَاءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaaloo bal wajadnaaa aabaaa 'anaa kazaalika yaf'aloon

**Translation:** They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."

#### Verse 75

قَالَ أَفَرَأَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala afara 'aitum maa kuntum ta'budoon

**Translation:** He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,

#### Verse 76

أَنتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمُ الْأَقْدَمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Antum wa aabaaa'ukumul aqdamoon

**Translation:** You and your ancient forefathers?

#### Verse 77

فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّ لِّي إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa innahum 'aduwwwul leee illaa Rabbal 'aalameen

**Translation:** Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,

#### Verse 78

الَّذِي خَلَقَنِي فَهُوَ يَهْدِينِ

**Transliteration:** Allazee khalaqanee fa Huwa yahdeen

**Translation:** Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.

#### Verse 79

وَالَّذِي هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِ

**Transliteration:** Wallazee Huwa yut'imunee wa yasqeen

**Translation:** And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.

#### Verse 80

وَإِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَهُوَ يَشْفِينِ

**Transliteration:** Wa izaa mardtu fahuwa yashfeen

**Translation:** And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

#### Verse 81

وَالَّذِي يُمِيتُنِي ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ

**Transliteration:** Wallazee yumeetunee summa yuhyeen

**Translation:** And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life

#### Verse 82

وَالَّذِي أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِي خَطِيئَتِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ

**Transliteration:** Wallazeee atma'u ai yaghfira lee khateee' atee Yawmad Deen

**Translation:** And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."

#### Verse 83

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ

**Transliteration:** Rabbi hab lee hukmanw wa alhiqnee bis saaliheen

**Translation:** [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.

#### Verse 84

وَاجْعَل لِّي لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Waj'al lee lisaana sidqin fil aakhireen

**Translation:** And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations.

#### Verse 85

وَاجْعَلْنِي مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ النَّعِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Waj'alnee minw warasati Jannnatin Na'eem

**Translation:** And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.

#### Verse 86

وَاغْفِرْ لِأَبِي إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الضَّالِّينَ

**Transliteration:** Waghfir li abeee innahoo kaana mind daalleen

**Translation:** And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.

#### Verse 87

وَلَا تُخْزِنِي يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa laa tukhzinee Yawma yub'asoon

**Translation:** And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -

#### Verse 88

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ

**Transliteration:** Yawma laa yanfa'u maalunw wa laa banoon

**Translation:** The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children

#### Verse 89

إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Illaa man atal laaha biqalbin saleem

**Translation:** But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."

#### Verse 90

وَأُزْلِفَتِ الْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa uzlifatil Jannatu lilmuttaqeen

**Translation:** And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.

#### Verse 91

وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa burrizatil Jaheemu lilghaaween

**Translation:** And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,

#### Verse 92

وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa qeela lahum aina maa kuntum ta'budoon

**Translation:** And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship

#### Verse 93

مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Min doonil laahi hal yansuroonakum aw yantasiroon

**Translation:** Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?"

#### Verse 94

فَكُبْكِبُوا فِيهَا هُمْ وَالْغَاوُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fakubkiboo feehaa hum walghaawoon

**Translation:** So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators

#### Verse 95

وَجُنُودُ إِبْلِيسَ أَجْمَعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa junoodu Ibleesa ajma'oon

**Translation:** And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.

#### Verse 96

قَالُوا وَهُمْ فِيهَا يَخْتَصِمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaaloo wa hum feehaa yakkhtasimoon

**Translation:** They will say while they dispute therein,

#### Verse 97

تَاللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِي ضَلَالٍ مُّبِينٍ

**Transliteration:** Tallaahi in kunnaa lafee dalaalim mubeen

**Translation:** "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error

#### Verse 98

إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Iz nusawweekum bi Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.

#### Verse 99

وَمَا أَضَلَّنَا إِلَّا الْمُجْرِمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maaa adallanaaa illal mujrimoon

**Translation:** And no one misguided us except the criminals.

#### Verse 100

فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَافِعِينَ

**Transliteration:** Famaa lanaa min shaa fi'een

**Translation:** So now we have no intercessors

#### Verse 101

وَلَا صَدِيقٍ حَمِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa laa sadeeqin hameem

**Translation:** And not a devoted friend.

#### Verse 102

فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةً فَنَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Falaw anna lanaa karratan fanakoona minal mu'mineen

**Translation:** Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... "

#### Verse 103

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Inna fee zaalika la Aayatanw wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

#### Verse 104

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

**Translation:** And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

#### Verse 105

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Kazzabat qawmu Noohinil Mursaleen

**Translation:** The people of Noah denied the messengers

#### Verse 106

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Iz qaala lahum akhoohum Noohun alaa tattaqoon

**Translation:** When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

#### Verse 107

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

**Translation:** Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

#### Verse 108

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fattaqullaaha wa atee'oon

**Translation:** So fear Allah and obey me.

#### Verse 109

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

#### Verse 110

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

**Translation:** So fear Allah and obey me."

#### Verse 111

۞ قَالُوا أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَاتَّبَعَكَ الْأَرْذَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaalooo anu'minu laka wattaba 'akal arzaloon

**Translation:** They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"

#### Verse 112

قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِي بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala wa maa 'ilmee bimaa kaanoo ya'maloon

**Translation:** He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?

#### Verse 113

إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّي ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ

**Transliteration:** In hisaabuhum illaa 'alaa Rabbee law tash'uroon

**Translation:** Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.

#### Verse 114

وَمَا أَنَا بِطَارِدِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maaa ana bitaaridil mu'mineen

**Translation:** And I am not one to drive away the believers.

#### Verse 115

إِنْ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

**Transliteration:** In ana illaa nazeerum mubeen

**Translation:** I am only a clear warner."

#### Verse 116

قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا نُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمَرْجُومِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaaloo la'il lam tantahi yaa Noohu latakoonanna minal marjoomeen

**Translation:** They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."

#### Verse 117

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِي كَذَّبُونِ

**Transliteration:** Qaala Rabbi inna qawmee kazzaboon

**Translation:** He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.

#### Verse 118

فَافْتَحْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًا وَنَجِّنِي وَمَن مَّعِيَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Faftab bainee wa bai nahum fat hanw wa najjinee wa mam ma'iya minal mu'mineen

**Translation:** Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."

#### Verse 119

فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُ فِي الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fa anjainaahu wa mamma'ahoo fil fulkil mashhoon

**Translation:** So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.

#### Verse 120

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ الْبَاقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Summa aghraqnaa ba'dul baaqeen

**Translation:** Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.

#### Verse 121

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Inna fee zaalika la Aayaah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

#### Verse 122

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Rabbaka la huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

**Translation:** And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

#### Verse 123

كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Kazzabat 'Aadunil mursaleen

**Translation:** 'Aad denied the messengers

#### Verse 124

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Iz qaala lahum akhoohum Hoodun alaa tattaqoon

**Translation:** When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

#### Verse 125

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

**Translation:** Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

#### Verse 126

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fattaqullaaha wa atee'oon

**Translation:** So fear Allah and obey me.

#### Verse 127

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

#### Verse 128

أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ آيَةً تَعْبَثُونَ

**Transliteration:** Atabnoona bikulli ree'in aayatan ta'basoon

**Translation:** Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,

#### Verse 129

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa tattakhizoona masaani'a la'allakum takhludoon

**Translation:** And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally?

#### Verse 130

وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa izaa batashtum batashtum jabbaareen

**Translation:** And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.

#### Verse 131

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

**Translation:** So fear Allah and obey me.

#### Verse 132

وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wattaqul lazeee amad dakum bimaa ta'lamoon

**Translation:** And fear He who provided you with that which you know,

#### Verse 133

أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَامٍ وَبَنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Amaddakum bi an'aa minw wa baneen

**Translation:** Provided you with grazing livestock and children

#### Verse 134

وَجَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

**Translation:** And gardens and springs.

#### Verse 135

إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Innee akhaafu 'alaikum 'azaaba Yawmin 'azeem

**Translation:** Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

#### Verse 136

قَالُوا سَوَاءٌ عَلَيْنَا أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ الْوَاعِظِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaaloo sawaaa'un 'alainaaa awa 'azta am lam takum minal waa'izeen

**Translation:** They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

#### Verse 137

إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا خُلُقُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

**Transliteration:** In haazaaa illaa khuluqul awwaleen

**Translation:** This is not but the custom of the former peoples,

#### Verse 138

وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maa nahnu bimu 'azzabeen

**Translation:** And we are not to be punished."

#### Verse 139

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fakazzaboohu fa ahlaknaahum; inna fee zaalika la aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

**Translation:** And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

#### Verse 140

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Rabbaka la huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

**Translation:** And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

#### Verse 141

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Kazzabat Samoodul mursaleen

**Translation:** Thamud denied the messengers

#### Verse 142

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَالِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Iz qaala lahum akhoohum Saalihun alaa tattaqoon

**Translation:** When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

#### Verse 143

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

**Translation:** Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

#### Verse 144

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

**Translation:** So fear Allah and obey me.

#### Verse 145

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

#### Verse 146

أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِي مَا هَاهُنَا آمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Atutrakoona fee maa haahunnaaa aamineen

**Translation:** Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],

#### Verse 147

فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ

**Transliteration:** Fee jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

**Translation:** Within gardens and springs

#### Verse 148

وَزُرُوعٍ وَنَخْلٍ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌ

**Transliteration:** Wa zuroo inw wa nakhlin tal 'uhaa hadeem

**Translation:** And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?

#### Verse 149

وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًا فَارِهِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa tanhitoona minal jibaali buyootan faariheen

**Translation:** And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.

#### Verse 150

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

**Translation:** So fear Allah and obey me.

#### Verse 151

وَلَا تُطِيعُوا أَمْرَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa laa tutee'ooo amral musrifeen

**Translation:** And do not obey the order of the transgressors,

#### Verse 152

الَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ

**Transliteration:** Allazeena yufsidoona fil ardi wa laa yuslihoon

**Translation:** Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."

#### Verse 153

قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaalooo innamaa anta minal musahhareen

**Translation:** They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

#### Verse 154

مَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِآيَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Maaa anta illaa basharum mislunaa faati bi Aayatin in kunta minas saadiqeen

**Translation:** You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."

#### Verse 155

قَالَ هَٰذِهِ نَاقَةٌ لَّهَا شِرْبٌ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍ مَّعْلُومٍ

**Transliteration:** Qaala haazihee naaqatul lahaa shirbunw w alakum shirbu yawmim ma'loom

**Translation:** He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.

#### Verse 156

وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوءٍ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa laa tamassoohaa bisooo'in fa yaakhuzakum 'azaabu Yawmin 'Azeem

**Translation:** And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."

#### Verse 157

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا نَادِمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa'aqaroohaa fa asbahoo naadimeen

**Translation:** But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.

#### Verse 158

فَأَخَذَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa akhazahumul 'azaab; inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum m'mineen

**Translation:** And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

#### Verse 159

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

**Translation:** And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

#### Verse 160

كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** kazzabat qawmu Lootinil mursaleen

**Translation:** The people of Lot denied the messengers

#### Verse 161

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Iz qaala lahum akhoohum Lootun alaa tattaqoon

**Translation:** When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

#### Verse 162

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Innee lakum rasoolun ameen

**Translation:** Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

#### Verse 163

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

**Translation:** So fear Allah and obey me.

#### Verse 164

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

#### Verse 165

أَتَأْتُونَ الذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Ataatoonaz zukraana minal 'aalameen

**Translation:** Do you approach males among the worlds

#### Verse 166

وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَاجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa tazaroona maa khalaqa lakum Rabbukum min azwaajikum; bal antum qawmun 'aadoon

**Translation:** And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."

#### Verse 167

قَالُوا لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَا لُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ الْمُخْرَجِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaloo la'il lam tantahi yaa Lootu latakoonanna minal mukhrajeen

**Translation:** They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."

#### Verse 168

قَالَ إِنِّي لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ الْقَالِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala innee li'amalikum minal qaaleen

**Translation:** He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it].

#### Verse 169

رَبِّ نَجِّنِي وَأَهْلِي مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Rabbi najjjinee wa ahlee mimmmaa ya'maloon

**Translation:** My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do."

#### Verse 170

فَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fanajjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma'een

**Translation:** So We saved him and his family, all,

#### Verse 171

إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Illaa 'ajoozan filghaabireen

**Translation:** Except an old woman among those who remained behind.

#### Verse 172

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Summa dammarnal aa khareen

**Translation:** Then We destroyed the others.

#### Verse 173

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًا ۖ فَسَاءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنذَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa amtarnaa 'alaihim mataran fasaaa'a matarul munzareen

**Translation:** And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.

#### Verse 174

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

#### Verse 175

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

**Translation:** And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

#### Verse 176

كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Kazzaba As haabul Aykatil mursaleen

**Translation:** The companions of the thicket denied the messengers

#### Verse 177

إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Iz qaala lahum Shu'aybun alaa tattaqoon

**Translation:** When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?

#### Verse 178

إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

**Translation:** Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

#### Verse 179

فَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

**Translation:** So fear Allah and obey me.

#### Verse 180

وَمَا أَسْأَلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

#### Verse 181

۞ أَوْفُوا الْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا مِنَ الْمُخْسِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Awful kaila wa laa takoonoo minal mukhsireen

**Translation:** Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.

#### Verse 182

وَزِنُوا بِالْقِسْطَاسِ الْمُسْتَقِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Wa zinoo bilqistaasil mustaqeem

**Translation:** And weigh with an even balance.

#### Verse 183

وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا النَّاسَ أَشْيَاءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا فِي الْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa laa tabkhasun naasa ashyaaa 'ahum wa laa ta'saw fil ardi mufsideen

**Translation:** And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.

#### Verse 184

وَاتَّقُوا الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ وَالْجِبِلَّةَ الْأَوَّلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wattaqul lazee khalaqakum waljibillatal awwaleen

**Translation:** And fear He who created you and the former creation."

#### Verse 185

قَالُوا إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مِنَ الْمُسَحَّرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaalooo innamaa anta minal musahhareen

**Translation:** They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

#### Verse 186

وَمَا أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ الْكَاذِبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maaa anta illaa basharum mislunaa wa innazunnuka laminal kaazibeen

**Translation:** You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.

#### Verse 187

فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًا مِّنَ السَّمَاءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa asqit 'alainaa kisafam minas samaaa'i in kunta minas saadiqeen

**Translation:** So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."

#### Verse 188

قَالَ رَبِّي أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala Rabbeee a'lamu bimaa ta'maloon

**Translation:** He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."

#### Verse 189

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ الظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Fakazzaboohu fa akhazahum 'azaabu Yawmiz zullah; innahoo kaana 'azaaba Yawmin 'Azeem

**Translation:** And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.

#### Verse 190

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَآيَةً ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

#### Verse 191

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Rabbaka la huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

**Translation:** And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

#### Verse 192

وَإِنَّهُ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa innahoo latanzeelu Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.

#### Verse 193

نَزَلَ بِهِ الرُّوحُ الْأَمِينُ

**Transliteration:** Nazala bihir Roohul Ameen

**Translation:** The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down

#### Verse 194

عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُنذِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** 'Alaa qalbika litakoona minal munzireen

**Translation:** Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners -

#### Verse 195

بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِيٍّ مُّبِينٍ

**Transliteration:** Bilisaanin 'Arabiyyim mubeen

**Translation:** In a clear Arabic language.

#### Verse 196

وَإِنَّهُ لَفِي زُبُرِ الْأَوَّلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa innahoo lafee Zuburil awwaleen

**Translation:** And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.

#### Verse 197

أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ آيَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُ عُلَمَاءُ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ

**Transliteration:** Awalam yakul lahum Aayatan ai ya'lamahoo 'ulamaaa'u Baneee Israaa'eel

**Translation:** And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?

#### Verse 198

وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَاهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ الْأَعْجَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa law nazzalnaahu 'alaa ba'dil a'jameen

**Translation:** And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners

#### Verse 199

فَقَرَأَهُ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا بِهِ مُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Faqara ahoo 'alaihim maa kaanoo bihee mu'mineen

**Translation:** And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.

#### Verse 200

كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَاهُ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Kazaalika salaknaahu fee quloobil mujrimeen

**Translation:** Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals.

#### Verse 201

لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا الْعَذَابَ الْأَلِيمَ

**Transliteration:** Laa yu'minoona bihee hattaa yarawul 'azaabal aleem

**Translation:** They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.

#### Verse 202

فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fayaatiyahum baghtatanw wa hum laa yash'uroon

**Translation:** And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.

#### Verse 203

فَيَقُولُوا هَلْ نَحْنُ مُنظَرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa yaqooloo hal nahnu munzaroon

**Translation:** And they will say, "May we be reprieved?"

#### Verse 204

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Aafabi 'azaabinaa yasta'jiloon

**Translation:** So for Our punishment are they impatient?

#### Verse 205

أَفَرَأَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَاهُمْ سِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Aara'aita im matta'naahum sineen

**Translation:** Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years

#### Verse 206

ثُمَّ جَاءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا يُوعَدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Summa jaaa'ahum maa kaanoo yoo'adoon

**Translation:** And then there came to them that which they were promised?

#### Verse 207

مَا أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا يُمَتَّعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Maaa aghnaaa 'anhum maa kaanoo yumaatoo'oon

**Translation:** They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.

#### Verse 208

وَمَا أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maaa ahlaknaa min qaryatin illaa lahaa munziroon

**Translation:** And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners

#### Verse 209

ذِكْرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَالِمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Zikraa wa maa kunnaa zaalimeen

**Translation:** As a reminder; and never have We been unjust.

#### Verse 210

وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ

**Transliteration:** Wa maa tanazzalat bihish Shayaateen

**Translation:** And the devils have not brought the revelation down.

#### Verse 211

وَمَا يَنبَغِي لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maa yambaghee lahum wa maa yastatee'oon

**Translation:** It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.

#### Verse 212

إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ

**Transliteration:** Innahum 'anis sam'i lama'zooloon

**Translation:** Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.

#### Verse 213

فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا آخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Falaa tad'u ma'al laahi ilaahan aakhara fatakoona minal mu'azzabeen

**Translation:** So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished.

#### Verse 214

وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa anzir 'asheeratakal aqrabeen

**Translation:** And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred.

#### Verse 215

وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wakhfid janaahaka limanit taba 'aka minal mu'mineen

**Translation:** And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers.

#### Verse 216

فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa in asawka faqul innee bareee'um mimmmaa ta'maloon

**Translation:** And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."

#### Verse 217

وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Wa tawakkal alal 'Azeezir Raheem

**Translation:** And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

#### Verse 218

الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ

**Transliteration:** Allazee yaraaka heena taqoom

**Translation:** Who sees you when you arise

#### Verse 219

وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي السَّاجِدِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa taqallubaka fis saajideen

**Translation:** And your movement among those who prostrate.

#### Verse 220

إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Innahoo Huwas Samee'ul 'Aleem

**Translation:** Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

#### Verse 221

هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَاطِينُ

**Transliteration:** Hal unabbi'ukum 'alaa man tanazzalush Shayaateen

**Translation:** Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?

#### Verse 222

تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Tanazzalu 'alaa kulli affaakin aseem

**Translation:** They descend upon every sinful liar.

#### Verse 223

يُلْقُونَ السَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَاذِبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Yulqoonas sam'a wa aksaruhum aaziboon

**Translation:** They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.

#### Verse 224

وَالشُّعَرَاءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُونَ

**Transliteration:** Washshu 'araaa'u yattabi 'uhumul ghaawoon

**Translation:** And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;

#### Verse 225

أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Alam tara annahum fee kulli waadiny yaheemoon

**Translation:** Do you not see that in every valley they roam

#### Verse 226

وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa annahum yaqooloona ma laa yaf'aloon

**Translation:** And that they say what they do not do? -

#### Verse 227

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَانتَصَرُوا مِن بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَيَّ مُنقَلَبٍ يَنقَلِبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Illal lazeena aamanoo w a'amilus saalihaati wa zakarul laaha kaseeranw wantasaroo mim ba'di maa zulimoo; wa saya'lamul lazeena zalamooo aiya munqalbiny yanqaliboon

**Translation:** Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
