### Pre-Bismillah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

*In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.*

### Verses

#### Verse 1

وَالصَّافَّاتِ صَفًّا

**Transliteration:** Wassaaaffaati saffaa

**Translation:** By those [angels] lined up in rows

#### Verse 2

فَالزَّاجِرَاتِ زَجْرًا

**Transliteration:** Fazzaajiraati zajraa

**Translation:** And those who drive [the clouds]

#### Verse 3

فَالتَّالِيَاتِ ذِكْرًا

**Transliteration:** Fattaaliyaati Zikra

**Translation:** And those who recite the message,

#### Verse 4

إِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَاحِدٌ

**Transliteration:** Inna Illaahakum la Waahid

**Translation:** Indeed, your God is One,

#### Verse 5

رَّبُّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ الْمَشَارِقِ

**Transliteration:** Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa wa Rabbul mashaariq

**Translation:** Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.

#### Verse 6

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا السَّمَاءَ الدُّنْيَا بِزِينَةٍ الْكَوَاكِبِ

**Transliteration:** Innaa zaiyannas samaaa 'ad dunyaa bizeenatinil kawaakib

**Translation:** Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars

#### Verse 7

وَحِفْظًا مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ مَّارِدٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa hifzam min kulli Shaitaanim maarid

**Translation:** And as protection against every rebellious devil

#### Verse 8

لَّا يَسَّمَّعُونَ إِلَى الْمَلَإِ الْأَعْلَىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٍ

**Transliteration:** Laa yassamma 'oona ilal mala il a'alaa wa yuqzafoona min kulli jaanib

**Translation:** [So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,

#### Verse 9

دُحُورًا ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ وَاصِبٌ

**Transliteration:** Duhooranw wa lahum 'azaabunw waasib

**Translation:** Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,

#### Verse 10

إِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ الْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ ثَاقِبٌ

**Transliteration:** Illaa man khatifal khatfata fa atba'ahoo shihaabun saaqib

**Translation:** Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].

#### Verse 11

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَهُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَا ۚ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَاهُم مِّن طِينٍ لَّازِبٍ

**Transliteration:** Fastaftihim ahum ashaddu khalqan am man khalaqnaa; innaa khalaqnaahum min teenil laazib

**Translation:** Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay.

#### Verse 12

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Bal'ajibta wa yaskharoon

**Translation:** But you wonder, while they mock,

#### Verse 13

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُوا لَا يَذْكُرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa izaa zukkiroo laa yazkuroon

**Translation:** And when they are reminded, they remember not.

#### Verse 14

وَإِذَا رَأَوْا آيَةً يَسْتَسْخِرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa izaa ra aw Aayatinw yastaskhiroon

**Translation:** And when they see a sign, they ridicule

#### Verse 15

وَقَالُوا إِنْ هَٰذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ مُّبِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Wa qaalooo in haazaa illaa sihrum mubeen

**Translation:** And say, "This is not but obvious magic.

#### Verse 16

أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ

**Transliteration:** 'A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'ainnaa lamab'oosoon

**Translation:** When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

#### Verse 17

أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Awa aabaa'unal awwaloon

**Translation:** And our forefathers [as well]?"

#### Verse 18

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَاخِرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qul na'am wa antum daakhiroon

**Translation:** Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."

#### Verse 19

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa innamaa hiya zajra tunw waahidatun fa izaa hum yanzuroon

**Translation:** It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.

#### Verse 20

وَقَالُوا يَا وَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الدِّينِ

**Transliteration:** Qa qaaloo yaa wailanaa haazaa Yawmud-Deen

**Translation:** They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."

#### Verse 21

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ الَّذِي كُنتُم بِهِ تُكَذِّبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Haazaa Yawmul Faslil lazee kuntum bihee tukaziboon

**Translation:** [They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."

#### Verse 22

۞ احْشُرُوا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا وَأَزْوَاجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُوا يَعْبُدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Uhshurul lazeena zalamoo wa azwaajahum wa maa kaanoo ya'budoon

**Translation:** [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship

#### Verse 23

مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمْ إِلَىٰ صِرَاطِ الْجَحِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Min doonil laahi fahdoohum ilaa siraatil Jaheem

**Translation:** Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire

#### Verse 24

وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُم مَّسْئُولُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa qifoohum innahum mas'ooloon

**Translation:** And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."

#### Verse 25

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Maa lakum laa tanaasaroon

**Translation:** [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"

#### Verse 26

بَلْ هُمُ الْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Bal humul Yawma mustaslimoon

**Translation:** But they, that Day, are in surrender.

#### Verse 27

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa ba'diny yatasaaa'aloon

**Translation:** And they will approach one another blaming each other.

#### Verse 28

قَالُوا إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَأْتُونَنَا عَنِ الْيَمِينِ

**Transliteration:** Qaalooo innakum kuntum taatoonanaa 'anil yameen

**Translation:** They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."

#### Verse 29

قَالُوا بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُوا مُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qaaloo bal lam takoonoo mu'mineen

**Translation:** The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,

#### Verse 30

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَانٍ ۖ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْمًا طَاغِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maa kaana lanaa 'alaikum min sultaanim bal kuntum qawman taagheen

**Translation:** And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.

#### Verse 31

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَا ۖ إِنَّا لَذَائِقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fahaqqa 'alainaa qawlu Rabbinaaa innaa lazaaa'iqoon

**Translation:** So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].

#### Verse 32

فَأَغْوَيْنَاكُمْ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَاوِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa aghwainaakum innaa kunnaa ghaaween

**Translation:** And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."

#### Verse 33

فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ فِي الْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa innahum Yawma'izin fil'azaabi mushtarikoon

**Translation:** So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.

#### Verse 34

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innaa kazaalika naf'alu bil mujrimeen

**Translation:** Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.

#### Verse 35

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Innahum kaanooo izaa qeela lahum laaa ilaaha illal laahu yastakbiroon

**Translation:** Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant

#### Verse 36

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُو آلِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٍ مَّجْنُونٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa yaqooloona a'innaa lataarikooo aalihatinaa lishaa'irim majnoon

**Translation:** And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"

#### Verse 37

بَلْ جَاءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** bal jaaa'a bilhaqqi wa saddaqal mursaleen

**Translation:** Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.

#### Verse 38

إِنَّكُمْ لَذَائِقُو الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Innakum lazaaa'iqul 'azaabil aleem

**Translation:** Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,

#### Verse 39

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa maa tujzawna illaa maa kuntum ta'maloon

**Translation:** And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -

#### Verse 40

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

**Transliteration:** Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

**Translation:** But not the chosen servants of Allah.

#### Verse 41

أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ

**Transliteration:** Ulaaa'ika lahum rizqum ma'loom

**Translation:** Those will have a provision determined -

#### Verse 42

فَوَاكِهُ ۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa waakihu wa hum mukramoon

**Translation:** Fruits; and they will be honored

#### Verse 43

فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Fee jannaatin Na'eem

**Translation:** In gardens of pleasure

#### Verse 44

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ

**Transliteration:** 'Alaa sururim mutaqaa bileen

**Translation:** On thrones facing one another.

#### Verse 45

يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِّن مَّعِينٍ

**Transliteration:** Yutaafu 'alaihim bikaasim mim ma'een

**Translation:** There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,

#### Verse 46

بَيْضَاءَ لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّارِبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Baidaaa'a laz zatil lish shaaribeen

**Translation:** White and delicious to the drinkers;

#### Verse 47

لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ

**Transliteration:** Laa feehaa ghawlunw wa laa hum 'anhaa yunzafoon

**Translation:** No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.

#### Verse 48

وَعِندَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Wa 'indahum qaasiraatut tarfi 'een

**Translation:** And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,

#### Verse 49

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ

**Transliteration:** Ka annahunna baidum maknoon

**Translation:** As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.

#### Verse 50

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa badiny yatasaaa 'aloon

**Translation:** And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

#### Verse 51

قَالَ قَائِلٌ مِّنْهُمْ إِنِّي كَانَ لِي قَرِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Qaala qaaa'ilum minhum innee kaana lee qareen

**Translation:** A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]

#### Verse 52

يَقُولُ أَإِنَّكَ لَمِنَ الْمُصَدِّقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Yaqoolu a'innnaka laminal musaddiqeen

**Translation:** Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe

#### Verse 53

أَإِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ

**Transliteration:** 'A-izaa mitnaa wa kunnaa turaabanw wa 'izaaman 'ainnaa lamadeenoon

**Translation:** That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"

#### Verse 54

قَالَ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala hal antum muttali'oon

**Translation:** He will say, "Would you [care to] look?"

#### Verse 55

فَاطَّلَعَ فَرَآهُ فِي سَوَاءِ الْجَحِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Fattala'a fara aahu fee sawaaa'il Jaheem

**Translation:** And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.

#### Verse 56

قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِ

**Transliteration:** Qaala tallaahi in kitta laturdeen

**Translation:** He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me.

#### Verse 57

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّي لَكُنتُ مِنَ الْمُحْضَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa law laa ni'matu Rabbee lakuntu minal muhdareen

**Translation:** If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].

#### Verse 58

أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ

**Transliteration:** Afamaa nahnu bimaiyiteen

**Translation:** Then, are we not to die

#### Verse 59

إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا الْأُولَىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Illa mawtatanal oola wa maa nahnu bimu'azzabeen

**Translation:** Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"

#### Verse 60

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Inna haazaa falya'ma lil'aamiloon

**Translation:** Indeed, this is the great attainment.

#### Verse 61

لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ الْعَامِلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Limisli haaza falya'ma lil 'aamiloon

**Translation:** For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.

#### Verse 62

أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٌ نُّزُلًا أَمْ شَجَرَةُ الزَّقُّومِ

**Transliteration:** Azaalika khairun nuzulan am shajaratuz Zaqqom

**Translation:** Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?

#### Verse 63

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَاهَا فِتْنَةً لِّلظَّالِمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innaa ja'alnaahaa fitnatal lizzaalimeen

**Translation:** Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.

#### Verse 64

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٌ تَخْرُجُ فِي أَصْلِ الْجَحِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Innahaa shajaratun takhruju feee aslil Jaheem

**Translation:** Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,

#### Verse 65

طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُ رُءُوسُ الشَّيَاطِينِ

**Transliteration:** Tal'uhaa ka annahoo ru'oosush Shayaateen

**Translation:** Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.

#### Verse 66

فَإِنَّهُمْ لَآكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa innahum la aakiloona minhaa famaali'oona minhal butoon

**Translation:** And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.

#### Verse 67

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْبًا مِّنْ حَمِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Summa inna lahum 'alaihaa lashawbam min hameem

**Translation:** Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.

#### Verse 68

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى الْجَحِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Summa inna marji'ahum la ilal Jaheem

**Translation:** Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.

#### Verse 69

إِنَّهُمْ أَلْفَوْا آبَاءَهُمْ ضَالِّينَ

**Transliteration:** Innahum alfaw aabaaa'ahum daaalleen

**Translation:** Indeed they found their fathers astray.

#### Verse 70

فَهُمْ عَلَىٰ آثَارِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fahum 'alaa aasaarihim yuhra'oon

**Translation:** So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.

#### Verse 71

وَلَقَدْ ضَلَّ قَبْلَهُمْ أَكْثَرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa laqad dalla qablahum aksarul awwaleen

**Translation:** And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,

#### Verse 72

وَلَقَدْ أَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa laqad arsalnaa feehim munzireen

**Translation:** And We had already sent among them warners.

#### Verse 73

فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَاقِبَةُ الْمُنذَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fanzur kaifa kaana 'aaqibatul munzareen

**Translation:** Then look how was the end of those who were warned -

#### Verse 74

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

**Transliteration:** Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

**Translation:** But not the chosen servants of Allah.

#### Verse 75

وَلَقَدْ نَادَانَا نُوحٌ فَلَنِعْمَ الْمُجِيبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa laqad naadaanaa Noohun falani'mal mujeeboon

**Translation:** And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.

#### Verse 76

وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Wa jajainaahu wa ahlahoo minal karbil 'azeem

**Translation:** And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.

#### Verse 77

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُ هُمُ الْبَاقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa ja'alnaa zurriyyatahoo hummul baaqeen

**Translation:** And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]

#### Verse 78

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen

**Translation:** And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

#### Verse 79

سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٍ فِي الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Salaamun 'alaa Noohin fil 'aalameen

**Translation:** "Peace upon Noah among the worlds."

#### Verse 80

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

**Translation:** Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

#### Verse 81

إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

#### Verse 82

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Summa aghraqnal aakhareen

**Translation:** Then We drowned the disbelievers.

#### Verse 83

۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِ لَإِبْرَاهِيمَ

**Transliteration:** Wa ina min shee'atihee la Ibraaheem

**Translation:** And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,

#### Verse 84

إِذْ جَاءَ رَبَّهُ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Iz jaaa'a Rabbahoo bi qalbin saleem

**Translation:** When he came to his Lord with a sound heart

#### Verse 85

إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maazaa ta'budoon

**Translation:** [And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?

#### Verse 86

أَئِفْكًا آلِهَةً دُونَ اللَّهِ تُرِيدُونَ

**Transliteration:** A'ifkan aalihatan doonal laahi tureedoon

**Translation:** Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire?

#### Verse 87

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Famaa zannukum bi Rabbil'aalameen

**Translation:** Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"

#### Verse 88

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةً فِي النُّجُومِ

**Transliteration:** Fanazara nazratan finnujoom

**Translation:** And he cast a look at the stars

#### Verse 89

فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَقِيمٌ

**Transliteration:** Faqaala inee saqeem

**Translation:** And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."

#### Verse 90

فَتَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fatawallaw 'anhu mudbireen

**Translation:** So they turned away from him, departing.

#### Verse 91

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰ آلِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَأْكُلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Faraagha ilaaa aalihatihim faqaala alaa taakuloon

**Translation:** Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?

#### Verse 92

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Maa lakum laa tantiqoon

**Translation:** What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?"

#### Verse 93

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْبًا بِالْيَمِينِ

**Transliteration:** Faraagha 'alaihim darbam bilyameen

**Translation:** And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.

#### Verse 94

فَأَقْبَلُوا إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa aqbalooo ilaihi yaziffoon

**Translation:** Then the people came toward him, hastening.

#### Verse 95

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ

**Transliteration:** Qaala ata'budoona maa tanhitoon

**Translation:** He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,

#### Verse 96

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wallaahu khalaqakum wa maa ta'maloon

**Translation:** While Allah created you and that which you do?"

#### Verse 97

قَالُوا ابْنُوا لَهُ بُنْيَانًا فَأَلْقُوهُ فِي الْجَحِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Qaalub noo lahoo bun yaanan fa alqoohu fil jaheem

**Translation:** They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire."

#### Verse 98

فَأَرَادُوا بِهِ كَيْدًا فَجَعَلْنَاهُمُ الْأَسْفَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa araadoo bihee kaidan faja 'alnaahumul asfaleen

**Translation:** And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased.

#### Verse 99

وَقَالَ إِنِّي ذَاهِبٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّي سَيَهْدِينِ

**Transliteration:** Wa qaala innee zaahibun ilaa Rabbee sa yahdeen

**Translation:** And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.

#### Verse 100

رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

**Transliteration:** Rabbi hab lee minas saaliheen

**Translation:** My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."

#### Verse 101

فَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِغُلَامٍ حَلِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Fabashsharnaahu bighulaamin haleem

**Translation:** So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.

#### Verse 102

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِي إِن شَاءَ اللَّهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Falamma balagha ma'a hus sa'ya qaala yaa buniya inneee araa fil manaami anneee azbahuka fanzur maazaa taraa; qaala yaaa abatif 'al maa tu'maru satajidunee in shaaa'allaahu minas saabireen

**Translation:** And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast."

#### Verse 103

فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ

**Transliteration:** Falammaaa aslamaa wa tallahoo liljabeen

**Translation:** And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,

#### Verse 104

وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَن يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ

**Transliteration:** Wa naadainaahu ai yaaaa Ibraheem

**Translation:** We called to him, "O Abraham,

#### Verse 105

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Qad saddaqtar ru'yaa; innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

**Translation:** You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

#### Verse 106

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاءُ الْمُبِينُ

**Transliteration:** Inna haazaa lahuwal balaaa'ul mubeen

**Translation:** Indeed, this was the clear trial.

#### Verse 107

وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa fadainaahu bizibhin 'azeem

**Translation:** And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,

#### Verse 108

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen

**Translation:** And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

#### Verse 109

سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

**Transliteration:** Salaamun 'alaaa Ibraaheem

**Translation:** "Peace upon Abraham."

#### Verse 110

كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Kazaalika najzil muhsineen

**Translation:** Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

#### Verse 111

إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

#### Verse 112

وَبَشَّرْنَاهُ بِإِسْحَاقَ نَبِيًّا مِّنَ الصَّالِحِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa bashsharnaahu bi Ishaaqa Nabiyayam minas saaliheen

**Translation:** And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.

#### Verse 113

وَبَارَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰ إِسْحَاقَ ۚ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٌ وَظَالِمٌ لِّنَفْسِهِ مُبِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Wa baaraknaa 'alaihi wa 'alaaa Ishaaq; wa min zurriyya tihimaa muhsinunw wa zaalimul linafshihee mubeen

**Translation:** And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself.

#### Verse 114

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa laqad mananna alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon

**Translation:** And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.

#### Verse 115

وَنَجَّيْنَاهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ الْكَرْبِ الْعَظِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Wa najjainaahumaa wa qawmahumaa minal karbil 'azeem

**Translation:** And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,

#### Verse 116

وَنَصَرْنَاهُمْ فَكَانُوا هُمُ الْغَالِبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa nasarnaahum fakaanoo humul ghaalibeen

**Translation:** And We supported them so it was they who overcame.

#### Verse 117

وَآتَيْنَاهُمَا الْكِتَابَ الْمُسْتَبِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa aatainaahumal Kitaabal mustabeen

**Translation:** And We gave them the explicit Scripture,

#### Verse 118

وَهَدَيْنَاهُمَا الصِّرَاطَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ

**Transliteration:** Wa hadainaahumus Siraatal Mustaqeem

**Translation:** And We guided them on the straight path.

#### Verse 119

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِي الْآخِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa taraknaa 'alaihimaa fil aakhireen

**Translation:** And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:

#### Verse 120

سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ مُوسَىٰ وَهَارُونَ

**Transliteration:** Salaamun 'alaa Moosaa wa Haaroon

**Translation:** "Peace upon Moses and Aaron."

#### Verse 121

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

**Translation:** Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

#### Verse 122

إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innahumaa min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.

#### Verse 123

وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Ilyaasa laminal mursaleen

**Translation:** And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,

#### Verse 124

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

**Transliteration:** Iz qaala liqawmiheee alaa tattaqoon

**Translation:** When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah?

#### Verse 125

أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلًا وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ الْخَالِقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Atad'oona Ba'lanw wa tazaroona ahsanal khaaliqeen

**Translation:** Do you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators -

#### Verse 126

اللَّهَ رَبَّكُمْ وَرَبَّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Allaaha Rabbakum wa Rabba aabaaa'ikumul awwaleen

**Translation:** Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"

#### Verse 127

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fakazzaboohu fa inna hum lamuhdaroon

**Translation:** And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],

#### Verse 128

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

**Transliteration:** Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

**Translation:** Except the chosen servants of Allah.

#### Verse 129

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa taraknaa 'alaihi fil aakhireen

**Translation:** And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

#### Verse 130

سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِلْ يَاسِينَ

**Transliteration:** Salaamun 'alaaa Ilyaaseen

**Translation:** "Peace upon Elias."

#### Verse 131

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innaa kazaalika najzil muhsineen

**Translation:** Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

#### Verse 132

إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Innahoo min 'ibaadinal mu'mineen

**Translation:** Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

#### Verse 133

وَإِنَّ لُوطًا لَّمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Lootal laminal mursaleen

**Translation:** And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.

#### Verse 134

إِذْ نَجَّيْنَاهُ وَأَهْلَهُ أَجْمَعِينَ

**Transliteration:** Iz najjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma'een

**Translation:** [So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,

#### Verse 135

إِلَّا عَجُوزًا فِي الْغَابِرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Illaa 'ajoozan fil ghaabireen

**Translation:** Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers].

#### Verse 136

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا الْآخَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Summa dammarnal aakhareen

**Translation:** Then We destroyed the others.

#### Verse 137

وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa innakum latamurroona 'alaihim musbiheen

**Translation:** And indeed, you pass by them in the morning

#### Verse 138

وَبِاللَّيْلِ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa billail; afalaa ta'qiloon

**Translation:** And at night. Then will you not use reason?

#### Verse 139

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna Yoonusa laminal mursaleen

**Translation:** And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.

#### Verse 140

إِذْ أَبَقَ إِلَى الْفُلْكِ الْمَشْحُونِ

**Transliteration:** Iz abaqa ilal fulkil mash hoon

**Translation:** [Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.

#### Verse 141

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ الْمُدْحَضِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fasaahama fakaana minal mudhadeen

**Translation:** And he drew lots and was among the losers.

#### Verse 142

فَالْتَقَمَهُ الْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٌ

**Transliteration:** Faltaqamahul hootu wa huwa muleem

**Translation:** Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.

#### Verse 143

فَلَوْلَا أَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُسَبِّحِينَ

**Transliteration:** Falaw laaa annahoo kaana minal musabbiheen

**Translation:** And had he not been of those who exalt Allah,

#### Verse 144

لَلَبِثَ فِي بَطْنِهِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

**Transliteration:** Lalabisa fee batniheee ilaa Yawmi yub'asoon

**Translation:** He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.

#### Verse 145

۞ فَنَبَذْنَاهُ بِالْعَرَاءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٌ

**Transliteration:** Fanabaznaahu bil'araaa'i wa huwa saqeem

**Translation:** But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.

#### Verse 146

وَأَنبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةً مِّن يَقْطِينٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa ambatnaa 'alaihi shajaratam mai yaqteen

**Translation:** And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.

#### Verse 147

وَأَرْسَلْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ مِائَةِ أَلْفٍ أَوْ يَزِيدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa arsalnaahu ilaa mi'ati alfin aw yazeedoon

**Translation:** And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.

#### Verse 148

فَآمَنُوا فَمَتَّعْنَاهُمْ إِلَىٰ حِينٍ

**Transliteration:** Fa aamanoo famatta' naahum ilaa heen

**Translation:** And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.

#### Verse 149

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمْ أَلِرَبِّكَ الْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ الْبَنُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fastaftihim ali Rabbikal banaatu wa lahumul banoon

**Translation:** So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?

#### Verse 150

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا الْمَلَائِكَةَ إِنَاثًا وَهُمْ شَاهِدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Am khalaqnal malaaa'i kata inaasanw wa hm shaahidoon

**Translation:** Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?"

#### Verse 151

أَلَا إِنَّهُم مِّنْ إِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ

**Transliteration:** Alaaa innahum min ifkihim la yaqooloon

**Translation:** Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,

#### Verse 152

وَلَدَ اللَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Waladal laahu wa innhum lakaaziboon

**Translation:** " Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars.

#### Verse 153

أَصْطَفَى الْبَنَاتِ عَلَى الْبَنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Astafal banaati 'alal baneen

**Translation:** Has He chosen daughters over sons?

#### Verse 154

مَا لَكُمْ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Maa lakum kaifa tahkumoon

**Translation:** What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?

#### Verse 155

أَفَلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Afalaa tazakkaroon

**Translation:** Then will you not be reminded?

#### Verse 156

أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَانٌ مُّبِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Am lakum sultaanum mubeen

**Translation:** Or do you have a clear authority?

#### Verse 157

فَأْتُوا بِكِتَابِكُمْ إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ

**Transliteration:** Faatoo bi Kitaabikum in kuntum saadiqeen

**Translation:** Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.

#### Verse 158

وَجَعَلُوا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجِنَّةِ نَسَبًا ۚ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ الْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa ja'aloo bainahoo wa bainal jinnati nasabaa; wa laqad 'alimatil jinnatu innahum lamuhdaroon

**Translation:** And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment].

#### Verse 159

سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

**Transliteration:** Subhaanal laahi 'ammaa yasifoon

**Translation:** Exalted is Allah above what they describe,

#### Verse 160

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

**Transliteration:** Illaa 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

**Translation:** Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin].

#### Verse 161

فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fa innakum wa maa ta'ubdoon

**Translation:** So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,

#### Verse 162

مَا أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَاتِنِينَ

**Transliteration:** Maaa antum 'alaihi befaaatineen

**Translation:** You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him

#### Verse 163

إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ الْجَحِيمِ

**Transliteration:** Illaa man huwa saalil jaheem

**Translation:** Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.

#### Verse 164

وَمَا مِنَّا إِلَّا لَهُ مَقَامٌ مَّعْلُومٌ

**Transliteration:** Wa maa minnasa illaa lahoo maqaamum ma'loom

**Translation:** [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.

#### Verse 165

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الصَّافُّونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa innaa llanah nus saaffoon

**Translation:** And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].

#### Verse 166

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ الْمُسَبِّحُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa innaa lanah nul musabbihoon

**Translation:** And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah."

#### Verse 167

وَإِن كَانُوا لَيَقُولُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa in kaanoo la yaqooloon

**Translation:** And indeed, the disbelievers used to say,

#### Verse 168

لَوْ أَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْرًا مِّنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Law anna 'indana zikram minal awwaleen

**Translation:** "If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,

#### Verse 169

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ

**Transliteration:** Lakunna 'ibaadal laahil mukhlaseen

**Translation:** We would have been the chosen servants of Allah."

#### Verse 170

فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ ۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Fakafaroo bihee fasawfa ya'lamoon

**Translation:** But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know.

#### Verse 171

وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa laqad sabaqat Kalimatunaa li'ibaadinal mursa leen

**Translation:** And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,

#### Verse 172

إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ الْمَنصُورُونَ

**Transliteration:** Innaa hum lahumul mansooroon

**Translation:** [That] indeed, they would be those given victory

#### Verse 173

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ الْغَالِبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa inna jundana lahumul ghaaliboon

**Translation:** And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome.

#### Verse 174

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ

**Transliteration:** Fatawalla 'anhum hatta heen

**Translation:** So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time.

#### Verse 175

وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa absirhum fasawfa yubsiroon

**Translation:** And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.

#### Verse 176

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ

**Transliteration:** Afabi'azaabinaa yasta'jiloon

**Translation:** Then for Our punishment are they impatient?

#### Verse 177

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَاءَ صَبَاحُ الْمُنذَرِينَ

**Transliteration:** Fa izaa nazala bisaahatihim fasaaa'a sabaahul munzareen

**Translation:** But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.

#### Verse 178

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٍ

**Transliteration:** Wa tawalla 'anhum hattaa heen

**Translation:** And leave them for a time.

#### Verse 179

وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wa absir fasawfa yubsiroon

**Translation:** And see, for they are going to see.

#### Verse 180

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ

**Transliteration:** Subhaana Rabbika Rabbil 'izzati 'amma yasifoon

**Translation:** Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.

#### Verse 181

وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ

**Transliteration:** Wa salaamun 'alalmursaleen

**Translation:** And peace upon the messengers.

#### Verse 182

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ

**Transliteration:** Walhamdu lillaahi Rabbil 'aalameen

**Translation:** And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
