## Nooh

### Pre-Bismillah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

*In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.*

### Verses

#### Verse 1

إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

**Transliteration:** Innaaa arsalnaa Noohan ilaa qawmihee an anzir qawmaka min qabli any yaatiyahum 'azaabun aleem

**Translation:** Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."

#### Verse 2

قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌ مُّبِينٌ

**Transliteration:** Qaala yaa qawmi innee lakum nazeerum mubeen

**Translation:** He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner,

#### Verse 3

أَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ

**Transliteration:** Ani'udul laaha watta qoohu wa atee'oon

**Translation:** [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.

#### Verse 4

يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ اللَّهِ إِذَا جَاءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

**Transliteration:** Yaghfir lakum min zunoobikum wa yu'akhkhirkum ilaaa ajalim musammaa; innaa ajalal laahi izaa jaaa'a laa yu'akhkhar; law kuntum ta'lamoon

**Translation:** Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' "

#### Verse 5

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِي لَيْلًا وَنَهَارًا

**Transliteration:** Qaala rabbi innee da'awtu qawmee lailanw wa naharaa

**Translation:** He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day.

#### Verse 6

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَائِي إِلَّا فِرَارًا

**Transliteration:** Falam yazid hum du'aaa 'eee illaa firaaraa

**Translation:** But my invitation increased them not except in flight.

#### Verse 7

وَإِنِّي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوا أَصَابِعَهُمْ فِي آذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَارًا

**Transliteration:** Wa inee kullamaa da'awtuhum litaghfira lahum ja'alooo asaabi'ahum fee aazaanihim wastaghshaw siyaabahum wa asaarroo wastakbarus tikbaaraa

**Translation:** And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.

#### Verse 8

ثُمَّ إِنِّي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًا

**Transliteration:** Summa innee da'aw tuhum jihaara

**Translation:** Then I invited them publicly.

#### Verse 9

ثُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًا

**Transliteration:** Summaa inneee a'lantu lahum wa asrartu lahum israaraa

**Translation:** Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly

#### Verse 10

فَقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّارًا

**Transliteration:** Faqultus taghfiroo Rabakam innahoo kaana Ghaffaaraa

**Translation:** And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.

#### Verse 11

يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًا

**Transliteration:** Yursilis samaaa'a 'alaikum midraaraa

**Translation:** He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers

#### Verse 12

وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَالٍ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَارًا

**Transliteration:** Wa yumdidkum bi am waalinw wa baneena wa yaj'al lakum Jannaatinw wa yaj'al lakum anhaaraa

**Translation:** And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.

#### Verse 13

مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًا

**Transliteration:** Maa lakum laa tarjoona lillaahi waqaaraa

**Translation:** What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur

#### Verse 14

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا

**Transliteration:** Wa qad khalaqakum at waaraa

**Translation:** While He has created you in stages?

#### Verse 15

أَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَاوَاتٍ طِبَاقًا

**Transliteration:** Alam taraw kaifa khalaqal laahu sab'a samaawaatin tibaaqaa

**Translation:** Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers

#### Verse 16

وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا

**Transliteration:** Wa ja'alal qamara feehinna nooranw wa ja'alash shamsa siraajaa

**Translation:** And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp?

#### Verse 17

وَاللَّهُ أَنبَتَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًا

**Transliteration:** Wallaahu ambatakum minal ardi nabaataa

**Translation:** And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.

#### Verse 18

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًا

**Transliteration:** Summa yu'eedukum feehaa wa ukhrijukum ikhraajaa

**Translation:** Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.

#### Verse 19

وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًا

**Transliteration:** Wallaahu ja'ala lakumul arda bisaataa

**Translation:** And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse

#### Verse 20

لِّتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلًا فِجَاجًا

**Transliteration:** Litaslukoo minhaa subulan fijaajaa

**Translation:** That you may follow therein roads of passage.' "

#### Verse 21

قَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُ إِلَّا خَسَارًا

**Transliteration:** Qaala Noohur Robbi innahum 'asawnee wattaba'oo mal lam yazid hu maaluhoo wa waladuhooo illaa khasaara

**Translation:** Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.

#### Verse 22

وَمَكَرُوا مَكْرًا كُبَّارًا

**Transliteration:** Wa makaroo makran kubbaaraa

**Translation:** And they conspired an immense conspiracy.

#### Verse 23

وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ آلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّا وَلَا سُوَاعًا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًا

**Transliteration:** Wa qaaloo laa tazarunna aalihatakum wa laa tazarunna Waddanw wa laa Suwaa'anw wa laa Yaghoosa wa Ya'ooqa wa Nasraa

**Translation:** And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.

#### Verse 24

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّوا كَثِيرًا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَالًا

**Transliteration:** Wa qad adalloo kasee ranw wa laa tazidiz zaalimeena illaa dalaalaa

**Translation:** And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."

#### Verse 25

مِّمَّا خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُوا فَأُدْخِلُوا نَارًا فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ أَنصَارًا

**Transliteration:** Mimmaa khateee' aatihim ughriqoo fa udkhiloo Naaran falam yajidoo lahum min doonil laahi ansaaraa

**Translation:** Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers.

#### Verse 26

وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرِينَ دَيَّارًا

**Transliteration:** Wa qaala Noohur Rabbi laa tazar 'alal ardi minal kaafireena daiyaaraa

**Translation:** And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.

#### Verse 27

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوا إِلَّا فَاجِرًا كَفَّارًا

**Transliteration:** Innaka in tazarhum yudil loo 'ibaadaka wa laa yalidooo illaa faajiran kaffaaraa

**Translation:** Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.

#### Verse 28

رَّبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِنًا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًا

**Transliteration:** Rabbigh fir lee wa liwaa lidaiya wa liman dakhala baitiya mu'minanw wa lil mu'mineena wal mu'minaati wa laa tazidiz zaalimeena illaa tabaaraa

**Translation:** My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction."
