## An-Naazi'aat

**Translation:** Those who drag forth
**Revelation:** Meccan
**Number of Verses:** 46

### Pre-Bismillah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

*In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.*

### Verses

#### Verse 1

وَالنَّازِعَاتِ غَرْقًا

**Transliteration:** Wan naazi 'aati gharqa

**Translation:** By those [angels] who extract with violence

#### Verse 2

وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ نَشْطًا

**Transliteration:** Wan naa shi taati nashta

**Translation:** And [by] those who remove with ease

#### Verse 3

وَالسَّابِحَاتِ سَبْحًا

**Transliteration:** Wass saabi-haati sabha

**Translation:** And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming

#### Verse 4

فَالسَّابِقَاتِ سَبْقًا

**Transliteration:** Fass saabi qaati sabqa

**Translation:** And those who race each other in a race

#### Verse 5

فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ أَمْرًا

**Transliteration:** Fal mu dab-bi raati amra

**Translation:** And those who arrange [each] matter,

#### Verse 6

يَوْمَ تَرْجُفُ الرَّاجِفَةُ

**Transliteration:** Yawma tarjufur raajifa

**Translation:** On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation],

#### Verse 7

تَتْبَعُهَا الرَّادِفَةُ

**Transliteration:** Tatba'u har raadifa

**Translation:** There will follow it the subsequent [one].

#### Verse 8

قُلُوبٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاجِفَةٌ

**Transliteration:** Quloobuny-yau maaiziw-waaji-fa

**Translation:** Hearts, that Day, will tremble,

#### Verse 9

أَبْصَارُهَا خَاشِعَةٌ

**Transliteration:** Absaa ruhaa khashi'ah

**Translation:** Their eyes humbled.

#### Verse 10

يَقُولُونَ أَإِنَّا لَمَرْدُودُونَ فِي الْحَافِرَةِ

**Transliteration:** Ya qoo loona a-inna lamar doo doona fil haafirah

**Translation:** They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?

#### Verse 11

أَإِذَا كُنَّا عِظَامًا نَّخِرَةً

**Transliteration:** Aizaa kunna 'izaa man-nakhirah

**Translation:** Even if we should be decayed bones?

#### Verse 12

قَالُوا تِلْكَ إِذًا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةٌ

**Transliteration:** Qaalu tilka izan karratun khaasirah.

**Translation:** They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."

#### Verse 13

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ

**Transliteration:** Fa inna ma hiya zajratuw-waahida

**Translation:** Indeed, it will be but one shout,

#### Verse 14

فَإِذَا هُم بِالسَّاهِرَةِ

**Transliteration:** Faizaa hum biss saahirah

**Translation:** And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.

#### Verse 15

هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Hal ataaka hadeethu Musaa

**Translation:** Has there reached you the story of Moses? -

#### Verse 16

إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَبُّهُ بِالْوَادِ الْمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

**Transliteration:** Iz nadaahu rabbuhu bil waadil-muqad dasi tuwa

**Translation:** When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,

#### Verse 17

اذْهَبْ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ طَغَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Izhab ilaa fir'auna innahu taghaa.

**Translation:** "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.

#### Verse 18

فَقُلْ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

**Transliteration:** Faqul hal laka ilaa-an tazakka.

**Translation:** And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself

#### Verse 19

وَأَهْدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخْشَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Wa ahdi yaka ila rabbika fatakh sha

**Translation:** And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'"

#### Verse 20

فَأَرَاهُ الْآيَةَ الْكُبْرَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Fa araahul-aayatal kubra.

**Translation:** And he showed him the greatest sign,

#### Verse 21

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Fa kazzaba wa asaa.

**Translation:** But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed.

#### Verse 22

ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ يَسْعَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Thumma adbara yas'aa.

**Translation:** Then he turned his back, striving.

#### Verse 23

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Fa hashara fanada.

**Translation:** And he gathered [his people] and called out

#### Verse 24

فَقَالَ أَنَا رَبُّكُمُ الْأَعْلَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Faqala ana rabbu kumul-a'laa.

**Translation:** And said, "I am your most exalted lord."

#### Verse 25

فَأَخَذَهُ اللَّهُ نَكَالَ الْآخِرَةِ وَالْأُولَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Fa-akha zahul laahu nakalal aakhirati wal-oola.

**Translation:** So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression].

#### Verse 26

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبْرَةً لِّمَن يَخْشَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Inna fee zaalika la'ibratal limaiy-yaksha

**Translation:** Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah].

#### Verse 27

أَأَنتُمْ أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا أَمِ السَّمَاءُ ۚ بَنَاهَا

**Transliteration:** A-antum a shaddu khalqan amis samaa-u banaaha.

**Translation:** Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it.

#### Verse 28

رَفَعَ سَمْكَهَا فَسَوَّاهَا

**Transliteration:** Raf'a sam kaha fasaw waaha

**Translation:** He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.

#### Verse 29

وَأَغْطَشَ لَيْلَهَا وَأَخْرَجَ ضُحَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Wa aghtasha lailaha wa akhraja duhaaha.

**Translation:** And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness.

#### Verse 30

وَالْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Wal arda b'ada zaalika dahaaha.

**Translation:** And after that He spread the earth.

#### Verse 31

أَخْرَجَ مِنْهَا مَاءَهَا وَمَرْعَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Akhraja minha maa-aha wa mar 'aaha.

**Translation:** He extracted from it its water and its pasture,

#### Verse 32

وَالْجِبَالَ أَرْسَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Wal jibala arsaaha.

**Translation:** And the mountains He set firmly

#### Verse 33

مَتَاعًا لَّكُمْ وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ

**Transliteration:** Mataa'al lakum wali an 'aamikum.

**Translation:** As provision for you and your grazing livestock.

#### Verse 34

فَإِذَا جَاءَتِ الطَّامَّةُ الْكُبْرَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Fa-izaa jaaa'atit taaam matul kubraa.

**Translation:** But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -

#### Verse 35

يَوْمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنسَانُ مَا سَعَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Yauma Yata zakkarul insaanu ma sa'aa.

**Translation:** The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,

#### Verse 36

وَبُرِّزَتِ الْجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Wa burrizatil-jaheemu limany-yaraa.

**Translation:** And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] those who see -

#### Verse 37

فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Fa ammaa man taghaa.

**Translation:** So as for he who transgressed

#### Verse 38

وَآثَرَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا

**Transliteration:** Wa aasaral hayaatad dunyaa

**Translation:** And preferred the life of the world,

#### Verse 39

فَإِنَّ الْجَحِيمَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Fa innal jaheema hiyal maawaa.

**Translation:** Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.

#### Verse 40

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِ وَنَهَى النَّفْسَ عَنِ الْهَوَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Wa ammaa man khaafa maqaama Rabbihee wa nahan nafsa 'anil hawaa

**Translation:** But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,

#### Verse 41

فَإِنَّ الْجَنَّةَ هِيَ الْمَأْوَىٰ

**Transliteration:** Fa innal jannata hiyal maawaa

**Translation:** Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.

#### Verse 42

يَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِ السَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْسَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Yas'aloonaka 'anis saa'ati ayyaana mursaahaa

**Translation:** They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?

#### Verse 43

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكْرَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Feema anta min zikraahaa

**Translation:** In what [position] are you that you should mention it?

#### Verse 44

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Ilaa Rabbika muntahaa haa

**Translation:** To your Lord is its finality.

#### Verse 45

إِنَّمَا أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخْشَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Innamaaa anta munziru maiy yakshaahaa

**Translation:** You are only a warner for those who fear it.

#### Verse 46

كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَهَا لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوْ ضُحَاهَا

**Transliteration:** Ka annahum Yawma yarawnahaa lam yalbasooo illaa 'ashiyyatan aw duhaahaa

**Translation:** It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning thereof.
