## Al-Inshiqaaq

**Translation:** The Splitting Open
**Revelation:** Meccan
**Number of Verses:** 25

### Pre-Bismillah

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

*In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.*

### Verses

#### Verse 1

إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انشَقَّتْ

**Transliteration:** Izas samaaa'un shaqqat

**Translation:** When the sky has split [open]

#### Verse 2

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

**Transliteration:** Wa azinat li Rabbihaa wa huqqat

**Translation:** And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

#### Verse 3

وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ

**Transliteration:** Wa izal ardu muddat

**Translation:** And when the earth has been extended

#### Verse 4

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ

**Transliteration:** Wa alqat maa feehaa wa takhallat

**Translation:** And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]

#### Verse 5

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

**Transliteration:** Wa azinat li Rabbihaa wa huqqat

**Translation:** And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] -

#### Verse 6

يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ

**Transliteration:** Yaaa ayyuhal insaanu innaka kaadihun ilaa Rabbika kad han famulaaqeeh

**Translation:** O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it.

#### Verse 7

فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ

**Transliteration:** Fa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo biyameenih

**Translation:** Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand,

#### Verse 8

فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا

**Transliteration:** Fasawfa yuhaasabu hi saabai yaseeraa

**Translation:** He will be judged with an easy account

#### Verse 9

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا

**Transliteration:** Wa yanqalibu ilaaa ahlihee masrooraa

**Translation:** And return to his people in happiness.

#### Verse 10

وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ

**Transliteration:** Wa ammaa man ootiya kitaabahoo waraaa'a zahrih

**Translation:** But as for he who is given his record behind his back,

#### Verse 11

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا

**Transliteration:** Fasawfa yad'oo subooraa

**Translation:** He will cry out for destruction

#### Verse 12

وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا

**Transliteration:** Wa yaslaa sa'eeraa

**Translation:** And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.

#### Verse 13

إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا

**Transliteration:** Innahoo kaana feee ahlihee masrooraa

**Translation:** Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;

#### Verse 14

إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ

**Transliteration:** Innahoo zanna al lai yahoor

**Translation:** Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah].

#### Verse 15

بَلَىٰ إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا

**Transliteration:** Balaaa inna Rabbahoo kaana bihee baseeraa

**Translation:** But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing.

#### Verse 16

فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ

**Transliteration:** Falaaa uqsimu bishshafaq

**Translation:** So I swear by the twilight glow

#### Verse 17

وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ

**Transliteration:** Wallaili wa maa wasaq

**Translation:** And [by] the night and what it envelops

#### Verse 18

وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ

**Transliteration:** Walqamari izat tasaq

**Translation:** And [by] the moon when it becomes full

#### Verse 19

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ

**Transliteration:** Latarkabunna tabaqan 'an tabaq

**Translation:** [That] you will surely experience state after state.

#### Verse 20

فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ

**Transliteration:** Famaa lahum laa yu'minoon

**Translation:** So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe,

#### Verse 21

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ ۩

**Transliteration:** Wa izaa quri'a 'alaihimul Quraanu laa yasjudoon

**Translation:** And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]?

#### Verse 22

بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَ

**Transliteration:** Balil lazeena kafaroo yukazziboon

**Translation:** But those who have disbelieved deny,

#### Verse 23

وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ

**Transliteration:** Wallaahu a'lamu bimaa yoo'oon

**Translation:** And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves.

#### Verse 24

فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

**Transliteration:** Fabashshirhum bi'azaabin aleem

**Translation:** So give them tidings of a painful punishment,

#### Verse 25

إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ

**Transliteration:** Illal lazeena aamanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati lahum ajrun ghairu mamnoon

**Translation:** Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted.
