Number 17

Indicators of nutritional adequacy in children are assessed mainly from their growth. Child growth is assessed from weight gain and also height gain (and in children under 2 years, it is also assessed from the increase in head circumference). Parents can monitor child growth by monitoring child growth curves which can be obtained online or can also be found on the health card (KMS) which parents can get at the nearest community health center (puskesmas) or integrated health post (posyandu). From these curves, it can be seen whether the child's weight and height increase according to their age; whether their weight is appropriate for their height.
